I was born in October and I must admit, that fall is in my blood. I absolutely love the Autumn season. If only it would last longer!! The Fall season seems to be a favorite for a lot of people but why is Fall the best season for introverts? Here are my top 5 reasons:

#1 – Nature is beautiful. As things prepare for hibernation, and the end of life, a gorgeous calm takes over the high energy of summer. Nothing tops watching the slow change of colors from green to oranges, yellows, browns and reds. It’s like watching a work of art be painted right before your eyes. There are soothing sounds of winds rustling through those leaves, the crunch of them under your feet, and the beauty This appeals to the creative side of introverts. Time to get out your paints, charcoals, or writing tools and get your artistic juices flowing!

#2 – The weather. Hot days are diminishing. I don’t enjoy heat. I don’t enjoy sweating. I don’t like having to wear clothing that shows skin! If you are anything like me, you love hoodies, sweaters and jeans. Cozy fuzzy socks, comfy joggers or leggings are also in the mix of much loved clothing items. The crispness in the air, the gentle rains, the harvest sun kissing the blue sky. Then, of course, you have your favorite hot drinks to stave off the chill! Can you say pumpkin spice?! Hot chocolate?!

#3 – Smells. With the cooler weather and the soothing rains, comes the wonderful smells of fall. Deep earthy smells as the leaves mix in with the dirt, the rains pushing that wet comforting fragrance into the air. Not only do the natural smells have a calming effect, but so do the smell of bonfires, fireplaces and fire pits. The full body scent of burning logs in the damp clean air along with the warmth and soothing crackling of the fire is a mesmerizing combination.

#4 – Calm between the storm. The hustle of summer activity is finally stopping. Kids are back in school. Routines are back to normal. The constant get-together’s, and need to go and do things are over. The holidays are on the horizon, but the craziness hasn’t started yet, just the building excitement can be felt. The fall enables solitude; a time for recovery. It’s a time for reflection, relaxation, rejuvenation and recharging; all of which are much needed activities for introverts.

#5 – Prepare for change. There is a quote “Autumn, the season that teaches us that change can be beautiful.” – unknown. As said above, Autumn is a time for reflection. A time to look at what has happened over the months, how you feel, and where you want to be in the coming months. It’s a time to slow down, unplug from everyday life – social commitments, stress and negativity. Take a deep breathe. Make a plan for tomorrow, for the upcoming holidays, and what you want to do in the upcoming year. Dreams, goals, plans, etc. Set your sights high!

My fellow introverts, take time to enjoy this wonderful time of year! Reflect, recharge, let your creative juices flow. Do the things that make you happy. Helloooooo Fall!
