I admit it. I absolutely love Fall. If I had to give up all seasons but one, Autumn would be the keeper. It’s been my favorite since I was a child. Just saying the word Fall or Autumn puts me in such a relaxed nostalgic state of mind. There’s no better season.
Colors
Many would probably argue that Spring has the best colors but I’d have to disagree. There is nothing more calming than the colors of Autumn. The bright hues are replaced with soft deep colors. Browns, oranges, greens, yellows. It’s like Mother Nature is putting on her favorite cozy pajamas to prepare for slumber. I mimic nature picking sweaters, and comfy clothes in those same bright oranges, and deep browns. There is nothing more calming and gorgeous than taking in the colors of Fall.
Smells
The smell of the world seems to change. It’s hard to describe but it seems that the air is cleaner and crisp. Then, of course, there is pumpkin spice everything! I’m giddy when I see the first pumpkin spice items hit the shelves at the stores. Yes, I’m one of those people. However, nothing is better than the smell of apples and cinnamon, spiced cider, or hot chocolate mixed with the smell of a burning fire in the fireplace. Except maybe sitting in the cool air outside near a burning fire pit with a hot cup of coffee.
Things to do
Summer is the time of vacations. Always the “things to do, places to go” kind of season. Oh but Fall. This is the time of year where the “things to do” are unique. Not that I don’t enjoy a great vacation to the beach, yet, there is something about the small get-away or fun events that can be done in the Autumn season. Not to mention the holidays!
My favorites are craft fairs, Fall festivals, corn mazes, pumpkin patches and bonfires. Of course, who doesn’t like a good football game! Likewise, the holidays…my all time favorite Halloween. What is there not to like about the spooky season? In addition, who doesn’t like Thanksgiving? The 4 F’s: Family, friends, football and good food!
Coziness
I confess, I absolutely hate hot weather. Consequently, being a blonde with very pale skin is a prescription for disaster in the hot summer sun. I don’t tan. I swivel back and forth from Solo Cup Red to Casper the Ghost White. Additionally, my body doesn’t do well in what feels like the inside of an oven with a hairdryer blowing on me full blast.
So when Fall comes, I feel alive. The beautifully cooler weather, golden lazy sunshine, and lots of warm, soft clothes. Crackling fires, s’mores, hayrides, and walks wrapped in the warm colors, cool air and memorizing smells has to be the best experience ever. Of course, driving with the top off the Jeep, hoodie on, hair blowing in the breeze, golden sunlight streaming in. Nothing is better than the Fall season!
